CHRIST in a PONCHO

Adolfo Perez Esquivel, 1980 Nobel Peace Prize winner
for Christ in a Poncho said this: “Capitalism and communism
are both imperialisms that provide only half answers. They
make the human being an object … We want something
besides capitalism or communism, something on the order
to self-management and sharing.”

“DOWNSHIFTING” … into VOLUNTARY SIMPLICITY

YEARS ago, families could live pretty well with one paycheck. Now it’s almost impossible to just make ends meet with even two paychecks! Back then, people helped each other out a lot more, and didn’t need as much money to get their needs met.

That time is here again, and it doesn't have to be a bad thing. In fact, it is in the midst of crisis, despair and yearning for resolve that we often gain our greatest insights, and with real purpose and meaning in our lives.... "Democracy as Consumerism" and "Progress At Every Price" is ending !

Hi, Linda.

Thanks for inviting me to this arena. By way of introduction, I'd like to share a piece of writing someone else was able to produce that summarizes my own experience. In 1970 I found a man in New York who ran a shop called Everything for Everybody. I liked the idea so much that I asked permission to start a shop like it in Philadelphia. The New York shop continued on and the following article was written by one of its members... I ran the Philadelphia shop on South Street during what was called the South Street Renaissance. To experience some of the flavor of the South Street store, read Alec Clayton's blog article

about his experiences as a member of the New York store... We did many of these same things on South Street in 1970 and 1971.
